Audio of a Person with Agoraphobia
from:Unfortunately, there is no laboratory imaging studies for people suffering agoraphobia that could be used solely for diagnostic purposes. Agoraphobia is an emotional issue that is dealt only with clinical history examination processes and psychological evaluation. If symptoms are manifested and clinical suspicions exist, then the doctor performs clinical testing to isolate the anxiety disorder from other factors such as toxins and organic illnesses.
Aside from the manifestation of fear, an audio of a person with agoraphobia is also a useful tool for clinical evaluation.
Imagine the pitiful cries of terror from children who are suffering from the panic disorder. The cries are often related to fear rather than pain but you cannot really see any apparent reason for the action. If you are not aware that the child is suffering from a panic attack, it will be tempting to dismiss the cries as unreasonable, demanding and an irritating episode of a tantrum. To the child though, those cries and pleas are cries asking for attention and help. The difficulty with dealing with a child is that the pain is not described in the manner that adults articulate them. To those who are uninitiated with the disorder, there is only gibberish, seemingly disconnected thought patterns and the difficulty in reasoning with the child.
To the adult, with serious agoraphobic attacks, fear in the voice, trembling and profuse sweating is evident. Sometimes, a good dose of reasoning, encouragement and cajoling will be needed. One thing is sure though, their cries are a cry for understanding. The last thing that a person suffering from panic attack needs is to be left alone. They should be in the company of people that they absolutely trust, especially the children.
One third of those suffering from panic attacks will lead to agoraphobia. If you see signs of these, you should immediately try to seek professional help.
Understand then that seeking professional help is a little complicated for people with agoraphobia. They will be very hesitant to leave the places where they feel most secure. Often, the best approach for situations like this is have the person talk with a psychologist first on the phone and have the psychiatrist visit the person personally, at least during the initial stages of treatment. The psychiatrist will be guiding the individual to recovery by gradually exposing them to confront similar places that make them afraid. The treatment could take a few weeks to several months but recovery for is almost always assured. However you should take the initial steps.
All of us experience being afraid and anxious once in a while. So how would a person know that someone is having panic attacks aside from listening to their pleas? There will be signs. Some of these are:
· Avoidance of some types of places and situations
· The enduring of anxiety when a person is in those places.
· The person will have a seemingly unreasonable need not to be left alone on those places.
Bringing a patient to see a psychiatrist at this point will not be so easy. There will be a very big chance that a person suspected having agoraphobia would not even want to ride a car or go out in the open. To get initial evaluation, you should seek help and if possible bring with you an audio of a person with agoraphobia for closer evaluation by the professional.
