Explanations for General Anxiety Disorder

from:

When you become fearful of virtually everything that you may come to think of and when that fear borders beyond the boundary of being normal then you might be experiencing generalized anxiety disorder.

It doesn't matter if the fear has a basis or if it is logical, so long as the fear pertains to all things that you think is fearful while for others may not, the prospect that you are at risk against the disorder is high. Most patients of general anxiety disorder are much too concerned about themselves, their families, the events that has befallen their lives, their neighbors, and even the world. And this condition will eat up most of their day thus affecting their productivity and their stability in general. You see, it really doesn't matter. The person just develops extreme fears, probably "out of the blue".

Anxiety for the majority of people is triggered by distressing, alarming, dangerous, uncertain, threatening and valuable events. For such cases, anxiety may even become productive for them such as the case for people who work more efficiently when put under stress. This way they are motivated and consequently function better.

People with general anxiety disorder though are permitted from working at their optimum state. In this manner, their capacity to produce is lessened and their capability to be efficient becomes almost inexistent since symptoms (both physical and psychiatric) impede them from achieving what they should be getting.

Their fears are excessive and consuming that sometimes they prefer to brood inside their own confinements to fears of both real and unrealistic things. In short, they fear too much yet their fears are distinguishable from that of phobia since phobias have specific objects for which they may associate their fears. And so they are more implicit as compared with general anxiety disorder. Therefore, for general anxiety disorder the fears and the object of extreme anxiety are more free-floating and undefined.

Though the incidence of general anxiety disorder is prevalent among Americans, the condition still remains to be one of the most treatable psychiatric disorders. But this truth still does not negate the fact that there are around 4 to 5 million sufferers among us.

Based on analysis, it has been found out that for most psychiatric disorders the female population is more affected than that of the male sector. Although there are no definitive explanations that will attest to this fact, some authorities assert that this may be due to the presence of many psychological and stressful experiences among women. This can be simply seen with the daily activities that women have to endure.

If we are to explain the condition medically, we can trace its beginnings from over-induced neurotransmitters, which in turn tend to have varying and abnormal levels of activities. Neurotransmitters are known to be the chemicals that help transmit brain signals across the nerve endings. Only the neurotransmitters that are responsible for anxiety-related activities are affected.

For psychological explanation, we can view general anxiety disorder in the activities and the relation of the unconscious part of the brain and the conscious. For some reason, these two parts clash during instances that give rise to anxiety. However, there is over emphasis for this clashing for people who experience general anxiety disorder.

However, if we are take into consideration the theory that explains the behavior we may result to the conclusion that general anxiety disorder might be the result of not being sure how to conduct oneself or what actions and behavior must be employed in a given situation.

Although it was already asserted that general anxiety disorder is likely to be treated in easier fashion as compared with other psychiatric conditions, the case seem to be varying from patient to patient. This must be because of the developed conditions that later became as the product of general anxiety disease.
